Cabarrus softball players named all-state

Five Cabarrus County softball players were named all-state by the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association.


Here is a list of the honorees:

Central Cabarrus
- Tori Cragan (Junior)

Jay M. Robinson
- Dallas King (Junior)
- Megan Crowe (Senior)

Hickory Ridge
- Ally Yeager (Junior)

Northwest Cabarrus
- Andrea Jones (Senior)

Bulldogs win SPC Wachovia Conference Cup

Jay M. Robinson claimed its second consecutive South Piedmont 3A Wachovia Conference Cup after winning the boys' tennis and boys' golf titles as well as a share of the girls' soccer championship.


The Wachovia Conference Cup is awarded to schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performance in their conference. According to the N.C. High School Athletic Association, points are awarded based on participation and standings in conference play. Each conference determines its own method of awarding points.

Hickory Ridge, who won the boys' track and field title, finished second in the cup standings while Cox Mill was third after winning a share of the girls' soccer title and finishing second in boys' golf.
