Concord's Hammonds signs with Charlotte

Concord girls' basketball player Nyshia Hammonds signed to play basketball at UNC Charlotte next year.

The senior averaged 17 points and seven rebounds per game last year. She is the first Cabarrus County girls' player to score 1000 points as a junior. She was also named the MVP of the state championship game in 2008.

“Nyshia is the most talented yet hardest working player I have ever coached," said Concord coach Angela Morton. "Her ability to score off the dribble and make plays for her teammates sets her apart in the women's game."
